Origami Podcast 018

New origami podcast, deeper and darker face of the d'n'b. Packed in this 60 minutes journey are tunes that bring some darkness while spreading the light at the same time. Felt like this podcast should be different from the previous one since drum'n'bass has some much to offer.

Tom Day - Echoes

Have you ever caught yourself listening to some song and wondering if it is a sad or happy song? In my case it has occurred and it was this track that made the puzzlement.

William Fitzsimmons - Goodmorning (Pink Ganter Remix)

It's not often you come across really intellingent, elaborated remix, which at the same time is very groovy and catches your ears immediately. William Fitzsimmons' heavenly voice was featured on origamitracks before with couple of equally good remixes, but that's just not enough.

FaltyDL - Straight and Arrow (Four Tet remix)

A year later and New York's FaltyDL is finally gearing up for his follow-up release, dubbed Hardcourage. "Straight and Arrow" will serve as the project's initial single as today we have a nice reworking of the track, courtesy of London's Four Tet. You can check out the extensive remix below

Archive - You Make Me Feel

Exceptional merge between visuals and sound. Guillaume Nery underwater base jump.

Beautiful throughout.

Gemini - Crew Love (Drake ft The Weeknd Cover)

What a track. I think no one has ever expeted such a track from Gemini, but yet he did provide us with this outstanding cover of The Weekend's track. Double, even triple surprise and quadruple pleasure for your ears, miles away from the original. Just hit the play button and drift away.

Instant track of the week.

Eaux - Luther

Eaux is a music trio from London with just 2 singles to their name but it's all about quality, not quantity. And this one effin brilliant.

Lamb - Butterfly Effect (Wojciech Panufnik Remix)

How often can you say that you've heard a proper chilling drum'n'bass? Well, now you can.World class remix by polish artist Wojciech Panufnik, really gripping story, evolving throughout the track with some even more broken beats following as a suprise in the process.

PS. More remixes of Lamb's outstanding track are sure to come. It's just too good.

The Crystal Ark - The City Never Sleeps

Origami 000

M83 - Midnight City (Trentemøller Remix)

I suppose everyone in the world knows the original for this track but Trentemøller's version still hides in the shadow, so it's time to bring it back to the light. It is very different from the original, some might even say too different, but for me it is all what art of remix should be about.

And just to be balanced - my beloved original "Midnight City". Absolutely beautiful!

Friendly Fires - Paris (Aeroplane Remix)

Let me show you Paris you've never known before.

Emancipator - Remixes

In my previous post I have obligated myself to write more about Douglas Appling and I intend to keep that promise. The timing is not incidental cause today "Remixes" album was brought to daylight.

Essáy - Morning Mountain

Essáy is a German producer creating very warm & melodic electronic tracks, described by himself as emotional electronic. Well, in this case I'm in no position to argue, cause his music really carries immense amounts of emotions, creating an instant smile on your face, slight neck ache from nodding your head and a warm feeling somewhere inside forcing your mouth to say "wow".

Burial - Raver

I think it's my all-time fav Burial track, maybe because it sounds nothing like any track before or after. Has the least in common with dubstep or broken beats, steady 4x4  beat leads all the way through followed by some very interesting rhythmic arrangements and of course chopped vocal bits, one of the things Will Bevan is famous for. As for Burial's track it's pretty damn groovy."Raver" comes from Untrue album on Hyperdub and as the title suggests it would work really good on a rave.
