TwoThirds feat. CoMa - Glimmer

Somehow nowadays it seems like the Internet hates dubstep music. As I can understand how that can be true in case of all the obscure, really wobble dubstepy-thingy, I still make an assumption it is because people just don't really know what dubstep is. TwoThirds is one of those who may actually change the perception of the music out there.

Planas - Merry Go Round (Ruckspin Remix)

What a track! Without a doubt must be one of the best dubstep, or shall i rather say chillstep, pieces I have ever heard in my entire life. Soft and chilling but dark and ruthless at the same time. Original comes from Planas' debut album called "The Long Game". For my taste Ruckspin did outstanding job remixing this one, making it sound way better than the original. By the time you're finishing reading this you probably have this beauty on a repeat.

Deadmau5 - Aural Psynapse (Mr FijiWiji Chillstep Remix)

Deadmau5 is dope himself, but Mr Fiji Wiji takes his track to the whole new level. So much power and sophisticated textures going on in this remix it just makes you want to keep this on a repeat forever. Brilliance!

Asa & With Joyful Lips - Saṃsāra EP

Not really a review, more like a teaser since this EP is still in a shadow waiting for a sign-up, tentatively scheduled for a release in December following year. Although the full tracklist and all the tracks are ready, only  few of them were brought to the daylight via Asa's SC page.

Burial - Raver

I think it's my all-time fav Burial track, maybe because it sounds nothing like any track before or after. Has the least in common with dubstep or broken beats, steady 4x4  beat leads all the way through followed by some very interesting rhythmic arrangements and of course chopped vocal bits, one of the things Will Bevan is famous for. As for Burial's track it's pretty damn groovy."Raver" comes from Untrue album on Hyperdub and as the title suggests it would work really good on a rave.

Solitude - Ambient Dubstep Vol. 12

Tom Bond aka Solitude strikes with 12th episode of his hugely popular Ambient Dubstep Series and is sounding better than ever. Everyone who heard at least one mix of the series knows they stand on a really high level but with the newest episode Mr Bond proves what may appear as a ceiling for some is only a floor for him.

Containing tunes from names like Sorrow, Lex, Delete or stunning Stumbleine is, if you ask me, the best and the most chilling in the series. There is no point writing about the mix's technicalities, enough said is Solitude's mixes are always flawless and his material selection keeps me surprised and amazed with each individual mix.

Genre: ambient dubstep, chillstep

Snobo - A Failure of Trust in the April Sun

Kinda unusual post for me, since I have never blogged about mixes other than my own, but this one, made by my good friend Snobo really caught my ear and heart. It's a great journey through deep broken beats with a lot of real instruments which is really important for me and really makes me wanna listen to such things. Listen to the mix and read below Snobo's personal comment about the origins of it and material included.

Genre: ambient dubstep

Ellie Goulding – Your Song (Matthew Spear Remix)

Some people say there are tracks that should not be remixed or reworked in any way, I myself disagree - music should evolve, and remixing is a natural course of events. I even go a little further, I think some tracks sound better reworked than the original and this one is a perfect example.

Ellie Goulding is a British singer with a debut album released last year, "Your Song" is one of the singles, being a bit soppy and sweet ballad. Matthew Spear is a young DJ and producer hailing from UK, reworking this song with a help of a killer bassline adding nice touch to the whole and creating a nice contrast for the original lyrics.

You can download it for free from Matthew's SC account.

Alex Clare - Relax My Beloved

Burial - Street Halo

It's been long 4 years since Will Bevan has released any solo material and now suddenly only week after cooperation with Four Tet release he strikes with his new EP "Street Halo" on Hyperdub.

Some people might say it's not a very big step forward since "Untrue" but let's be honest - Burial has his own individual style and while more and more people tries to imitate it, why should be abandon it. "Street Halo" brings all the best Burial has to offer and even a bit more, since the tracks are so similar yet so different. Every fan will be more that satisfied, especially with the title track and chilling bombshell "Stolen Dog"

Available on vinyl and as a digital release on Kode9's Hyperdub Records.
